Dr. Rakesh Ranjan, MD, a psychiatrist with over thirty years in the field, founded the clinic. He did his psychiatry training at a medical center linked with Northeast Ohio Medical University, then worked as a research fellow in psychopharmacology at Case Western Reserve University. Early in his career he trained at The Psychobiology Clinic under Dr. Herbert Y. Meltzer. In 1996 he set up The Psychobiology Clinic of Greater Cleveland, and he later founded what is now Charak Center for Health and Wellness, with locations across Northeast Ohio. The clinic sees mind and body as tightly linked, so it approaches each patient as a whole rather than treating one symptom in isolation. Mental health is viewed as one part of overall health. Treatment plans weigh how a patient feels, how they function day to day, and how they look. Plans frequently combine aesthetic, physical and mental wellness services, with each element tailored to the patient's lifestyle and goals. Psychiatric care is available, along with coordinated care through a network of providers.
A visit begins with a consultation to talk through goals, health history and available options, which can include a referral elsewhere if another provider is a better fit. The clinic works with BTL Industries, Halotherapy Solutions and Rion Aesthetics as technology and strategic partners. It says its treatments are supported by scientific studies and that it takes part in clinical trials of emerging wellness solutions. According to the clinic, its HaloRed O2 chamber is the only one in Ohio, and it describes its treatments as industry-leading.
Clinic hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Saturday visits are by appointment only, and the clinic is closed on Sundays. Flexible payment is available through financing with Affirm, arranged via Looped.
