About

Changing Looks describes itself as having more than 30 years of experience, and says it pairs that background with modern techniques aimed at healthy, long-lasting styles. Braids, locs and silk press are its main focus, and the salon is open Wednesday through Friday from 10am to 7pm and Saturday from 7:30am to 4pm, closed Sundays. Its tagline is 'Bringing out the beauty in you.'

Takedown Bar is the place to start when someone is ready to remove old braids, sew-ins or locs. The service includes gentle detangling and style removal, which prepares the hair for a new style. A wash and prep can be added for an extra fee, and Takedown can be added to another appointment or booked alone, with walk-ins welcome or online booking available.

The salon offers a range of classes. Let's Learn is a $25 client and guest education class held on the first Monday of each month at 11am, with refreshments served. Makeup Extravaganza ($125) covers basic applications and makeup essentials in hands-on, one-on-one sessions. The School of Braiding runs quarterly classes from basic fundamentals through advanced techniques for $550, and private classes are available for students and professionals by inquiry.

Events are a large part of the calendar. Sparkle Night ($50) invites guests to decorate bras, hats and other creations. Christmas Gala tickets start at $65. The salon also hosts parties such as bridal showers, baby showers and birthdays, which are kid friendly. Private events for 10 to 60 guests can be corporate or personal, and the space includes an outside area, a runway-style venue and lighting for photos.

The Rose Howard Scholarship Fund was set up in memory of Rose Howard, a teacher for more than 37 years who died in September 2022. The fund awards scholarships to deserving students and accepts donations, and Rose Howard supported the annual Sparkle Night event. The salon is also open to independent hairstylists, braiders, nail techs, commission stylists and assistants, who can request an application form. Independent stylists set their own booking systems, pricing, payment methods and service policies.

The salon says it combines more than 30 years of experience with modern techniques for healthy, long-lasting styles.
