Meredith Carbary founded Chair Secrets in 2019, and the studio operates inside Ayla's House of Beauty at 66 Broad Street. The studio describes itself as offering more than twenty-five years of experience with high quality, natural-based hair products and services.
Color services are free of ammonia and PPD and use naturally derived ingredients such as aloe vera, honey, shea butter and pomegranate. The studio says it uses locally sourced products, and it takes a holistic approach to hair care and treatment methods.
Consultations and online appointments are available, and a consultation form is provided. Online bookings receive text reminders and email confirmations. A 24-hour cancellation notice is required, and for now the studio takes cash or check only. Prices can change, and customized color and extension work is priced at consultation.
Each quarter the studio gives a complimentary transformation, chosen from letters nominating someone who cannot easily afford a change of style. Full service wedding packages can be booked in the salon or off site, with hair planning covering everything through to the ceremony.
