About

Central Square Wax Studio is a waxing studio in Cambridge that serves both men and women. The studio says it has more than ten years of experience in waxing and skin care, and it states that its aestheticians are licensed. It is open Tuesday to Friday from 8 AM to 6 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 3 PM, and is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

The menu is organized by body area: arms and underarms, back, body, chest and stomach, face and legs. Hard wax is applied warm to the skin. Coverage varies between services, so it helps to check the details. Full arms cover the whole arm including hands and fingers, but not underarms or shoulders. Full legs include the upper and lower legs, knees, feet and toes, but not the bikini line. The full face option covers the eyebrows, sideburns, cheeks, chin, nose, hairline and both lips.

First-time guests have their own pricing on the booking page. A first-time Brazilian is listed at $50, a first-time bikini full at $45 and a first-time bikini line at $30. The first-time bundle at $70 includes a Brazilian wax plus one add-on: underarms, inner thighs or lower back.

Before an appointment, hair should be at least a quarter inch long on the day. For a first wax, the studio recommends not shaving for at least three weeks beforehand. Clients are asked to avoid alcohol and significant caffeine before waxing, to skip numbing creams, and to avoid tanning for 24 to 48 hours before and the sun for 24 hours after. Tell the specialist about any medications, including antibiotics, Accutane or topical creams such as Retin-A. Clients under 16 need parental consent for bikini waxing. Waxing during a period is allowed, though the area may be more sensitive and a tampon is required.

Some redness or small bumps can appear for 24 to 48 hours after a wax, and first-time waxers may see pinpoint bleeding. After a first wax, the studio suggests returning about every four weeks.
