The medical side covers skin cancer, acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, cysts, moles, vitiligo, skin allergies and hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis is treated with the non-cosmetic formula of Botox, with results lasting about six to twelve months. Surgical work includes scar revision, and the practice also treats pseudofolliculitis with antibiotic cream and, in some cases, laser surgery. An Institute for Hair addresses hair loss and thinning. Acne scars can be treated with microdermabrasion, dermabrasion, lasers, IPL, fillers, chemical peels, subcision and needling. Care for skin of color includes post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, pigment disorders and vitiligo.
The cosmetic menu spans neuromodulators, a range of dermal fillers, laser and light treatments, chemical peels, microneedling, skin tightening and body contouring. Vanquish is a non-surgical option that uses radio frequency energy to reduce fat around the waistline, with no downtime according to the practice. Kybella, an FDA-cleared injectable, is used for submental fat, and PelleFirm is also offered for body contouring. Cost varies by treatment, and an estimate is tailored during a consultation. Most cosmetic procedures are considered elective and are not covered by insurance, although medically necessary treatments may be eligible.
Appointments can be booked through the website or by calling (202) 955-5757, which serves both offices, and there is a text line at (202) 695-0409 for information. Cancellations and reschedules need at least 24 hours notice. A non-refundable $100 deposit is taken at booking and applied toward the cost of the visit, and missing the 24-hour window forfeits it. Two emergency appointment openings are kept each day, one morning and one afternoon, and a slot is reassigned if a patient cannot attend. Medicare Part B is accepted and billed on the patient's behalf, while Medicare Advantage plans are not accepted. Self-pay and uninsured patients receive Good Faith Estimates before scheduled care.
Burgess. The practice says Black Opal products were recognized by Paula's Choice, and that two of its fade products were named among the best skin-lightening products. A Black Opal men's shaving system is recommended for keeping skin healthy while shaving. Discounts and specials for new and established patients are offered through a program called Derm Deals, which includes a VIP tier. The practice describes itself as using up-to-date equipment and techniques, and it has lasers and an esthetician on site.
Medical and cosmetic care is overseen by a board-certified dermatologist, and the practice treats patients of every skin type and background.
