Care Cuts

Care Cuts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was founded on March 20, 2023. Its founder, Missi Kennedy, started the business with the aim of easing fear around haircuts, and the business says her own experience shaped that mission. It treats grooming as a lifelong skill rather than a quick fix.

Stylists use sensory-friendly methods that put communication ahead of speed. Each appointment is approached as a chance to build trust, practice everyday life skills and leave a positive memory. Appointments take place at the Bedford location, during in-home visits, and at community partner sites such as therapy centers, schools and indoor play spaces.

Specialized services are offered at little to no cost for high-need families. Haircuts are funded in part by donations and sponsors, and a T-shirt fundraiser for Krewe mascot merchandise helps cover no-cost haircuts. The Clubhouse, funded by donations, provides sensory tools and a calm setting.

Community partners include therapy centers, behavioral health providers and play spaces, such as Miracle League of Keller and Lighthouse Therapy Center of Fort Worth.

Haircuts are built around communication, trust and sensory comfort, with a focus on the skill of grooming over speed.
