Education is central to the team. Staff have attended Sassoon Academy courses in London and Chicago, Aveda Institute classes in New York, Cincinnati and DC, and Aveda Congress and Master Jam. In-salon color training has come from Luis Gonzalez, Ian Michael Black and Lupe Voss, and in-salon razor and scissor cutting training from Susan Ford and Patrick Ina. Other training includes Aveda men's cutting with Michael Pavlick, razor cutting at Arrojo Academy in NYC, haircutting with D.J. Muldoon, and Deva Curl training in NYC.

Hair extensions are serviced only inside the salon, and staff have trained in Vomor Hair Extensions and Bellami Hair Extensions. Highlights and balayage are offered by consultation, and average highlight visits run from about 1.5 to 3 hours depending on hair length and style. New color clients complete an online color consultation first, and the stylist may do a patch test to check for reactions to coloring products. Clients are advised not to wash hair before color and not to use root concealer on the day of a color service.

Booking runs through online scheduling, which requires a credit card to reserve. New clients pay a 50% deposit that is applied to the day of services, and current clients have 24 hours to cancel free of charge. Cancellations made later than that are charged 50% of the service to the card on file, with exceptions left to the stylist. Not every service can be booked online, so clients can call or text 412-921-3434. Prices vary by stylist according to experience level. Early arrivals are welcome, though a stylist may not be free until the appointment time, and tea, coffee and water are offered while waiting.

The salon carries Aveda products and recommends Aveda Sun Care for extensions worn outdoors. It also sells jane iredale makeup, which the salon says is free of fragrances and fillers that can cause irritation and undergoes testing for sensitive skin. Makeup cannot be returned. Gift cards can be bought in store or by phone in amounts from $10 to $500 and used for products or services.

Education comes first, and the team values teamwork and a fun, friendly setting that still runs with structure and professionalism. The salon is aligned with the Aveda mission.
