Sara Close opened Capelli Salon in January 2003 after several bank loan applications for the project were turned down. The salon has grown into a full-service space for hair, nails, waxing and makeup, and a barbershop opened in December 2020 to focus on short cuts, shaving and skin care.

Hair services include color paired with a cut, from partial and full highlights to balayage, along with children's cuts, barber-style short cuts, and cuts for medium, long or thick hair. Hair treatments can be added to a service or booked on their own. Bridal hair, makeup and nail services are available in the salon or on location, with a travel fee based on distance and time. Double process, transformative color and color corrections begin with a consultation.

Hair appointments can be made by phone, text or email, and nail appointments through the online scheduling link. Makeup is by appointment only. Stylists keep varying hours, and the salon offers appointments from 8:00am to 8:00pm depending on the stylist and day. The salon is at the back of the building; the South entrance is at the top of the stairs on the right. Parking is available in the South lot of the East Building, in paid spaces at the CVS across the street, or in the city lot behind the pita house.

Cancellations need 48 hours notice; with less than 24 hours notice, half of the service fee is charged, and missed appointments are charged in full. Clients more than 10 minutes late may have to reschedule, and the fee is waived for clients who are ill and need to move an appointment. Service adjustment requests should be made within one week of the visit. A 3% fee applies to credit card payments, with no fee for cash or check. Refunds and exchanges are not given on services, gift certificates or retail products, except for damaged product.

The salon is hiring stylists. Positions are commission-based with flexible schedules, in-house training and goal setting, and the salon says there are no hidden product charges.
