Canfidence and Quirks Beauty, LLC runs a natural hair space and a photography studio under one roof in Houston. The studio's stated focus is education, encouragement and empowerment, with an emphasis on self-care and self-love. Its founder, Garesia (Shay), has worked as a professional photographer for ten years.

The salon's natural hair menu covers protective styles, micro locs, curl work, finger coils, and tapered cuts. Within natural styling and extensions, clients can choose wash-and-go styling, two-strand twists, finger coils, sew-ins that blend in with natural hair, or twisted and braided updos, from $80. Protective twists begin at $180, crochet styles in curly, braided, loc'd, or twisted looks begin at $150, and locs and micro locs begin at $280. Loc options include traditional locs, micro locs, Belle micro locs, and faux locs for installation in soft bohemian, distressed, or butterfly styles.

The booking platform groups appointments into curls and coils, locs and maintenance, color, consultations, crochet styles, cuts, hair restoration, protective styles and updos, shampoo service, takedowns and twists. A non-refundable, transferable deposit of 30% of the total service fee secures a natural hair appointment. Appointments can be rescheduled or canceled with at least 24 hours notice, and one deposit transfer is allowed for a rescheduled visit. Deposits are not refunded for cancellations, and no-call, no-show clients are charged the full service price and may no longer book.

Photography sessions include beauty, boudoir, empowerment and just-because sessions, branding and business sessions, milestone sessions and quirky queen creative sessions. Beauty, branding and milestone sessions start at $350, and quirky queen and out-of-the-box portrait sessions start at $500. Hair and makeup can be added to a shoot. Photography clients must book a makeup service or have access to quality makeup for the day. Booking begins with a discovery call, followed by a contract and a 30% non-refundable retainer. Sessions take place at the studio or at a location the client chooses, with other studios possible at the client's expense after a consultation confirms the location.

Relaxed hair is serviced only for clients transitioning to natural hair. For photography, relaxed hair may be lightly styled, such as curled or placed in a simple updo, without a full service.

The studio focuses on education, encouragement and empowerment, with self-care and self-love at the center of its offering. Clients are taught about their hair, and photography clients are guided through each step of a consultation or session.

The studio offers private appointments alongside a coffee bar with complimentary refreshments, a content space and merchandise.
