Caltrology Electrolysis

Caltrology is a permanent hair removal business in Suite 105 at 315 Highway 101 in Solana Beach. The salon says its electrolysis staff are licensed and that its team holds California Board Certification. It also states it uses single-use sterile probes that are discarded after each session, and that its instruments are sterilized in a medical-grade dry heat sterilizer.

New clients begin with a consultation that costs $65. It covers collecting client information and medical history, a medical intake review, a skin and hair examination, a question-and-answer session, an optional patch test, and educational materials on electrolysis and pre- and post-treatment care. Clients also receive SkinCeuticals aftercare products and complimentary medical-grade numbing cream, and a treatment plan is created from the visit.

Treatments are charged by length: 15 minutes or less for $85, 30 minutes for $120, 45 minutes for $160, 60 minutes for $200, 75 minutes for $250, 90 minutes for $300, 105 minutes for $350, and 120 minutes for $400. Each session includes a skin and hair assessment, skin preparation, removal of unwanted hair, and two to five minutes of post-treatment care using cataphoresis or high-frequency aftercare. For thermolysis, the salon gives approximate hair counts per session, roughly 25 hairs at 15 minutes rising to about 200 at two hours.

Work covers the face and body, including the beard, underarms, arms, legs, and chest. The salon no longer provides electrolysis for the bikini line, genitalia, or buttocks. Clients who are pregnant or think they may be need a letter from a doctor, and a doctor's letter is also required before hair is removed from moles. Clients are asked to wait two weeks after cosmetic injections such as Botox or dermal fillers before a session.

Appointments can be booked through the website, by text, or by phone, and texts are preferred. A credit card secures each booking, and cancellations or reschedules with less than 48 hours' notice, or no-shows, are charged 100% of the scheduled fee. Late clients are charged the full appointment time, and treatment ends at the scheduled time. Clients are asked to arrive 10 minutes early and wait in the waiting area until called. Pets, small children, and heavy perfumes are not permitted. Payment is accepted by cash, Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, and major credit cards.
