Calm Beauty Brooklyn

Calm Beauty Brooklyn is a facial and massage studio on the ground floor of a Senator Street building, between Third and Fourth Avenues. Facials are offered one client at a time and only to women.

Each visit starts with a consultation covering what the client wants from that session and their longer-term goals, and the treatment is planned from that conversation. Listed prices are starting points that can change with the plan. Clients are asked to arrive without makeup or jewelry. There is no receptionist, so guests ring the bell on the ground floor when they arrive, and should come no more than 10 minutes early.

The buccal facial massage comes in two lengths. The 60-minute Classic version, at $325, includes simple extractions and a mask. A 90-minute version at $495 adds time and advanced skin care technology. The Fascia Facial blends myofascial release, buccal massage, deep tissue massage and lymphatic drainage, and is offered at 60 minutes for $325 or 90 minutes for $495. The studio says the Fascia Facial was featured in Elle Magazine.

A Help Me Choose option starts at $250 and is set during the consultation. An eye treatment can be added to the Gua Sha facial for $20.

Booking is online only; walk-ins are not accepted. New and returning clients complete a client form at least 24 hours before their service. Changes or cancellations need at least 48 hours notice to avoid a fee of 50 percent of the booked services, and no-shows are charged the full amount. Guests more than 10 minutes late may have the service shortened and pay in full, or the appointment may be rescheduled with a 50 percent fee. Avoid exfoliation, including hair removal, on the treatment area for 7 days before, including retinols, vitamin A and C serums, benzoyl peroxide and laser treatments. Avoid Botox or fillers at least a week before most services and four weeks before buccal massage. Payment is by debit or credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay with contactless payment, or cash. Gift certificates must be presented at the visit and can be bought on the website, along with skin care products. Street parking is the only parking; two-hour meters are on Third and Fourth Avenues.

The studio also offers a two-day professional training, Buccal Massage with Lymphatic Drainage and Myofascial Release, for estheticians, massage therapists and other spa and health professionals. The course is approved by the National Certification Board for 16 CEs.
