Emily Potts owns Brushed by Emily and works as its stylist. She has been in the beauty industry since 2007, and the salon centers on blonding and hair extensions across its two locations.

New clients, and clients who have not been in for six months or more, join a waitlist through a form. At the first appointment, the stylist talks through lifestyle, budget and hair goals, and new clients receive a welcome email followed by reminder texts. Each service includes a personal styling lesson covering the tools, techniques and products used, and the lounge offers coffee, sparkling water, wine, chocolates, healthy snacks, WiFi and device chargers.

It includes a root shadow, an all-over gloss, a shampoo with scalp massage, and a blow dry and style, and is meant to add brightness and depth to existing color. The signature blonding service adds a custom application, root melt, gloss and lightening, followed by toner and a styled finish. Hand-tied extensions are sewn into rows of natural hair without tape, glue or heat. First-time extension clients can expect to invest between $800 and $1,500, depending on length, density and color, and extensions are moved up every six to eight weeks, with color refreshed about every five months. With proper care they can last up to a year before replacement.

The salon's work centers on consultation, a relaxed visit and teaching clients how to style and care for their hair at home.
