About

Brown Aveda Institute is part of the Aveda School Program and operates two campuses: one at 8816 Mentor Avenue in Mentor and one in the Southpark Center in Strongsville. Both are reached at (440) 255-9494. The school was founded by Nancy Brown, Ed Brown and Holly Brown, who say the training covers cosmetology, esthetics and nails alongside self-mastery and people skills.

Students carry out every treatment here, and a licensed instructor oversees each one. Guests from age six upward are welcome regardless of gender, and anyone under 18 must bring written permission from a parent or guardian. Both clinics take booked visits and accept walk-ins. A specific student can be requested, though that choice isn't guaranteed. Opening times differ between campuses, so check the relevant school schedule first. A patch test is needed before any hair color. Pricing for chemical texturizing and coloring depends on hair length, porosity and any extra products used.

The service menu spans chemical texturizing, facial treatments, botanical hair and scalp care, hair color, haircuts and styling, braiding, make-up, nails, and body waxing. Facial and skin services use plant-based and essence-focused treatments, including Tulasara Elemental Nature, Perfecting Plant Peel, dual exfoliation and microdermabrasion. Every hair service comes with a complimentary scalp treatment, a mini-facial and a hand and arm massage. Both clinics sell Aveda hair, skin, body and make-up products, and gift cards can be bought in store or through the website and used at either location.

The school says it has raised money for local children through Clothe a Child and Adopt a Child, and that it has donated a total of $12,000 to a range of charities. Staff and students also run a drawing each April to support Earth Day. Prospective students can review program costs, lengths and schedules, and graduates may get career placement help, though placement is not guaranteed. The school is accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts & Sciences (NACCAS) and offers an alumni association.

Students perform services under licensed instructor supervision, and the school's training includes self-mastery and people skills along with technical work. Aveda products are used throughout, which the school describes as plant-based.
