Medical dermatology covers conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, warts, shingles, cysts, moles and skin cancers. The aesthetic side includes Botox, dermal fillers, facials, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, medical microneedling, laser hair removal and laser skin treatment.

Botox takes a couple of minutes and involves no downtime, and a topical numbing cream can be applied beforehand on request. Results begin to show in about three to four days and are full after a week. The effects are temporary, and some patients return for maintenance treatments every six to nine months.

Medical microneedling uses a pen-shaped device with 12 fine needles to create tiny channels in the skin. It is used for mild to moderate acne scarring, scars, fine lines, loose skin, texture, pore size and stretch marks, and it can be treated on the face, scalp, neck, body, and around the eyes and mouth. Sessions can be repeated every four to six weeks, and the cost is assessed at a complimentary consultation. It can be combined with other treatments as a package. It is not offered to people who used isotretinoin in the last three months, have open wounds, had skin radiation in the last year, have a current skin infection, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a history of keloid or hypertrophic scars.

Chemical peels range from superficial to deeper treatments for lines, acne, age spots, melasma, scars, sun damage and uneven tone. Recovery takes one to seven days after a superficial peel and up to 20 days or more after a deeper one. Facials cleanse, exfoliate, extract and hydrate, and the practice recommends at least four a year. Each facial includes a consultation, a face mask, a finishing serum or moisturizer, and home skincare advice.

Richey Medical Center is open Monday to Thursday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm and Friday 7:30 am to 1:00 pm, with phone lines at 727-815-9878 and 727-848-7967. Both locations are closed on weekends.
