Braids By Santana is run by its owner, Santana, a licensed natural hair stylist who moved into hair after many years in corporate work. The salon says hair is its passion and holds that natural hairstyles are attractive and help protect hair from damage.

A visit starts with a free consultation for new clients who have hair or scalp concerns, very short hair, or especially thick or long hair. Each appointment ends with a maintenance plan and advice on caring for hair between visits. Every service includes shampoo, extensions, and a snack and water, and stylists keep up with natural hair styles through ongoing education.

The menu is grouped into box braids, feed-ins, knotless braids, takedowns and other services, and twists, locs and braids. Bantu knots, goddess and boho styles, and soft locs are among the offerings. Prices start at $30 for a shampoo service and $85 for men's braids, and most braid styles fall between $100 and $450 depending on size and length. Hair is included in most braid prices; for goddess or boho braids, virgin or human hair curls cost $70 extra per bundle, or clients can bring their own. Custom ombre or mixed colors are priced by the number of colors. Hair must be at least three inches long, and butt, knee and longer lengths cost extra and need a note at booking.

Each booking requires a $50 deposit by PayPal, debit or credit card, and the balance is paid on the day of service by cash, debit card, PayPal or Venmo. Arriving 30 minutes late brings a late fee and may lead to cancellation. Cancellations are accepted up to 24 hours ahead, and a deposit can be moved once with proper notice. Sunday, early morning, late evening and last-minute bookings within 48 hours carry an extra $50. The salon is open Monday through Saturday, 8am to 6pm, and closed Sundays. Guests are not allowed at appointments unless accompanying a child 12 or under. Braid classes are offered Monday through Sunday, subject to availability, and gift cards can be used for any hair service or product.
