Madi owns Braids By Madi and does the braiding herself. She started the studio to offer braids that are not pulled tight or damaging to the hair and scalp, and that is the standard she works to across every style.

Each visit begins with a personal consultation about lifestyle, what the client wants from the style, face shape and how much upkeep they want to do afterward. The studio is calm and clean, with soft lighting, comfortable seating and music playing.

The menu is grouped into braids, cornrows, locs and twists. Knotless braids are installed without knots at the root for a smooth finish and neat parts, and bohemian knotless versions add soft curls or waves. Box braids come in small, medium or jumbo sizes and can include added color, while Bora Bora styles are the studio's more intricate, colorful work. Braiding hair is supplied for every style, either included in the service price or added on, and clients may bring their own hair if they say so when booking.

Techniques are built to keep tension off the scalp and edges, and the studio treats knotless styles as its gentlest option.
