Body Electric Esthetics is a sugaring studio in Holland, Michigan, founded by licensed esthetician Alexandra Schwerin. The studio describes itself as the top rated sugaring studio in Holland, a claim it makes on its own behalf. It is located in Suite 60 of Six Oh Studios on Douglas Avenue.

About

Sugaring is the core of the studio, with a focus on Brazilian work and full body services that cover intimate areas, legs, arms, back, chest, stomach, underarms and the face. The sugar paste is made from USDA certified organic white sugar, lemon juice and water, and the studio says the paste is also Fair Trade and Leaping Bunny certified. The paste is pressed on against the direction of growth and lifted off in one quick motion, with no strips or sticks.

Clients booking a first visit receive an aftercare bag with an exfoliating mitt and samples of an exfoliating scrub and an ingrown hair oil. Hair needs to be at least 3mm long before sugaring, and full legs need about a quarter to half an inch of growth, or the appointment may need to be rescheduled and could carry a fee. Clients who are menstruating can still book, and the studio recommends a clean tampon or cup and keeps tampons, pads, panty liners and wipes on hand.

Hours are Monday 9:30am to 7pm, Tuesday 9:30am to 5pm, Wednesday 1pm to 7pm and Thursday 9:30am to 5pm, with the studio closed Friday through Sunday. If no appointment time suits, clients can text the studio or join the waitlist. Cancellations or reschedules made at least 24 hours ahead avoid a fee, while a same-day cancellation because a period has started carries a fee. Clients under 18 need a parent or guardian present, who signs a waiver form.

According to the studio, regular sugaring can leave skin smooth for one to two weeks, and hair tends to grow back finer over repeated sessions. The studio also says that after a number of regular sessions the hair follicle begins to deplete, which it describes as leading to permanent results. Gift cards are available, and the site offers a balance check.

Hair is removed by sugaring alone, using a paste of organic sugar, lemon juice and water applied against the direction of growth and removed without strips or sticks.
