Blue Shark Electrolysis is an electrolysis practice in Vancouver, Washington, that focuses on gender-affirming care. It is located in Suite 3 at 504 Washington Street and is open daily from 9 AM to 8 PM, by appointment only.
Treatment is done one hair at a time and suits both small and large areas. Settings are adjusted during the session, and clients can take breaks and set their own pace. Numbing and other comfort options can be discussed.
New clients are asked to book a free consultation of about 20 to 30 minutes before or alongside their first appointment. It covers the areas to be treated, a timeline, and skin and hair needs. Common areas include the face, neck, chest, abdomen, genitals, and underarms.
The practice bills commercial Kaiser Permanente directly for gender-affirming electrolysis when there is an approved Gender Pathways referral. For other insurance plans, it cannot bill directly, so it provides invoices that clients can submit for reimbursement if their plan allows. Financial hardship discounts may be available to clients who qualify. These are self-pay rates for uninsured or underinsured clients, subject to availability and not guaranteed, and they cannot be applied to copays, coinsurance, or deductibles.
Before a visit, clients are advised to arrive hydrated, limit caffeine, and avoid makeup or heavy products on the area. Hair should be about 2 to 4 days long so it can be grasped with tweezers. Questions can be sent by email to lily@blueshark.gay or by phone at 503-714-1337.
Each treated area is worked through one hair at a time, with the skin cleaned and soothed afterward and aftercare reviewed.
