Blue Geisha Lashes is a Japanese-owned lash studio in Suite 1504 on the 15th floor of 39 West 32nd Street in Manhattan. The studio describes itself as NYC's top rated lash studio, a claim it makes about itself. Volume lash extensions are its specialty, and the menu also covers individual lashes, hybrid sets, lash lifts, brow lamination, lash removal and on-location visits.

Volume sets are built from fans in three textures: Fluffy 2-4D, which uses open fans of two to four lashes; Fluffy 5-12D, also called mega, which uses thinner lashes at five to twelve per fan and can take a few hours for a full set; and Platinum 2-9D, where the bundle thickness can be adjusted. Each volume texture comes in Light, Medium or Dramatic, with 50-60, 70-80 or 90-100 fans per eye. Individual sets come in 170, 200 or 230 lashes made from Premium Mink, a synthetic fiber the studio says mimics real mink. Hybrid sets pair 75% flat lashes with 25% fluffy volume lashes. Clients choose a curl (J, JC/B, C or D, with D+, L and LD available on artist suggestion), a thickness, a length from 5mm to 14mm, and a shape: Basic/Natural, Dolly/Cute or Cat Eye/Sexy.

A first visit includes a 15-minute consultation for individual and volume services. A full individual or hybrid set usually takes about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours. Refills take out lashes that are twisted, overgrown or lifted, then add new extensions to restore the lash count. Between visits, the studio advises avoiding oil-based makeup, mascara, and gel or waterproof liners around extensions.

Other services include a lash lift on natural lashes, a semi-permanent treatment that lasts about four to eight weeks, and brow lamination, a semi-permanent treatment that sets brow hairs in place for about six to eight weeks. Lash removal is offered for lashes the studio applied; cluster lashes are not removed. The VIP traveling service can be arranged at an apartment, a hotel, or a photo or film set, for one person or for back-to-back group appointments. Its rate starts at $500 for travel and setup, plus a service fee for volume lashes.

The studio also runs lash training: Foundation Classic (16 hours), Advanced Classic (8 hours), Foundation Volume (16 hours), Advanced Volume (8 hours) and competition training. Foundation Classic costs $2400 private, or $1600 with a VLC educator private or in a group. Competition training costs $1200 private or $800 group. Training classes include a student lash kit and lifetime support.

The studio focuses on lash health so clients can keep their lash services for longer.
