Bloom Skincare works from a studio on State Street in downtown Los Altos. The studio aims to pair a relaxed, friendly visit with treatments for specific skin concerns, and its menu runs from standard and premium facials to waxing, brow and lash tinting, and skin treatments such as LED light therapy, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning and chemical peels.

A standard facial runs about 55 to 60 minutes and includes a consultation, cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, masking and hydration. Longer or specialized versions add steps such as a peel or a paraffin hand treatment, and an LED facial takes 75 minutes. Microdermabrasion, dermaplaning and peels are often recommended as a series, with microdermabrasion sessions spaced roughly a week to ten days apart and peels about three to four weeks apart. For peels, the studio suggests stopping retinol, glycolic and other exfoliants a week beforehand, and recommends four weeks of at-home prep.

Appointments are by appointment only and can be booked online, and a credit card is required for new online bookings. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm, Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm, and the studio is closed on Sundays. Cancellations or changes need at least 24 hours notice, or 48 hours for groups. Later changes incur a 50 percent fee, which rises to the full charge after repeated violations or a no-show without warning. Clients who arrive more than 10 minutes late may not be seen, and children are not supervised at the studio, so childcare needs to be arranged elsewhere.

Skincare products can be bought online and shipped. Products can be returned for exchange or store credit within 30 days if they are at least half full, though serums cannot be returned. Gift cards are available online as eGift cards in set amounts from $100 to $500 or in a custom amount. Series packages for adult facials are discounted but are single-user, non-refundable and non-transferable.

Treatments are personalized, and clients can request a longer program aimed at a specific skin condition, occasional maintenance facials or a basic wax.
