Bling Lash Studio is an independent eyelash extension business started by Kiki, who had worked at a number of high-end eyelash extension studios before opening her own. The studio sits on the San Mateo side of the Bay Area and books extensions, lifts and tints by appointment only.
The service menu is split into two groups, Lash Extension and Lash Lift and Tint. Extension sets include Classic Natural, Volume, Hybrid and Mega Volume. A classic set places one extension on each natural lash, a volume set places fans of lashes on each natural lash, a hybrid set blends the two, and a Mega Volume set builds on a volume set for extra fullness. A natural set uses roughly 80 to 100 lashes per eye. Extensions are semi-permanent, applied one at a time, and described as waterproof. The studio uses synthetic cashmere lashes, a PBT synthetic fiber rather than animal material, with a flat base that the studio says suits very fine, thin natural lashes. The studio says these last longer than silk and faux mink. Classic lashes come in B, C, D and L curls.
Pricing depends on the service rather than how long the appointment runs. A new Classic Natural Set of 60 is $149. Refills are priced by the window since the last set: $69 for 0 to 14 days, $89 for 15 to 21 days, $99 for 22 to 28 days and $109 for 29 to 35 days. A 60-piece refill from another salon is $109. The studio recommends a touch-up about every three weeks.
Lash lifts lift and shape natural lashes. Afterward, the studio asks clients to keep lashes away from water, heat, steam, oils and lotions for at least 24 hours and to sleep on their back. A lash tint for top and bottom lashes takes about 20 to 30 minutes and lasts roughly three to four weeks. The two can be booked together as a combined lift and tint.
Booking requires a credit card. Cancellations made within 24 hours may incur a $20 deposit if the slot cannot be refilled, and late arrivals don't receive extra service time and may be charged $20. If a problem comes up after a first extension appointment, the studio will fix it free if clients call within 3 days. Services and in-store products are non-refundable. Cash tips are accepted, and the average is 18 to 20 percent of the treatment cost. Brush wands are single-use and replaced after each service, and technicians wash their hands before and after each client. The studio describes cleanliness as its top priority.
