Every appointment starts with a consultation about goals, hair history, daily routine and how much upkeep the client wants. The salon describes its outlook as a mix of time-tested technique and newer creative work, with each client's individuality kept in mind. The salon also says it believes hair is a way of expressing yourself and approaches each service with care.

The salon offers an ammonia-free color option, formulated without ammonia and with fewer strong-smelling ingredients. According to the salon, it is gentler on hair and scalp than traditional formulas. Haircuts include a shampoo and scalp massage. Scalp treatments range from short massage add-ons to a longer head spa session with styling, and some include aromatherapy and a steamed towel.

Braids and extensions take more time. Braids typically last one to two weeks, depending on at-home care. Box braids, cornrows, crochet-method dreadlocks and extensions are priced by variable pricing, with rough time estimates given for each. Microbraids begin with a consultation because pricing depends on complexity. Dreadlocks made with the crochet method are formed without chemicals or waxes.

Products are chosen for quality, eco-friendliness and scent, and several are sold in the salon. Booking is recommended one to two weeks ahead, especially for color and specialty services. Cancellations or changes need at least 24 hours notice, and a $15 fee applies to cancellations without notice or on the day of the appointment. Clients 65 and older can request a senior discount at checkout. Listed hours are 9:45am to 5:30pm on two days and 9:45am to 5:00pm on two other days.
