Blackheart Nails was founded in 2020 by Lauren Blackheart, who teamed up with two nail tech friends when the lease on her small studio was coming to an end. The business has grown since then, and according to the founder its crew is now more than three times its original size.
The salon describes itself as a collective of creatives rethinking what a nail salon can look and feel like, and as not an average nail salon. Each artist runs their own business from an individual space inside the studio, which is modeled on a tattoo studio rather than a traditional salon floor.
Visits are by appointment only, every day of the week. Bookings can be made through the salon's Vagaro page or by texting the studio, and some artists take bookings through Instagram direct message. Services include gel manicures on natural nails, structured builder gel manicures, Gel-X soft gel extensions, custom nail art designed around each client's request, and cuticle care treatments. The salon uses Japanese and Korean gel products, according to the salon.
A collective of independent artists, each with a distinct style, working from individual studio spaces to create custom nail designs.
The studio is modeled on a tattoo studio, with separate spaces for each artist.
