Black Thorn Wax was created by Ashley Trahan as a way to offer waxing on her own terms. The studio works in brows, gender-inclusive full-body waxing and targeted skin treatments, and it describes its appointments as personalized, built around confidence, comfort and intentional care.

Appointments are meant to feel professional and comfortable, with no sense of being judged. The studio also lists health and safety practices: staff wear disposable gloves, surfaces and client areas are disinfected between clients, and disposable supplies are used.

Body treatments are offered for Brazilian, glutes and back areas, and each includes a double cleanse, an enzyme step, ingrown hair removal and extractions, followed by a cooling mask. A prenatal belly treatment is designed for dry, itchy skin as the belly grows, and includes a double cleanse, a gentle sugar scrub and hydrating care.

Brow services range from simple waxing to tinting, henna, wax combined with tint or henna, and lamination. Face waxing covers small areas such as the lip, chin and sideburns, with a full-face option. Full-body waxing covers most of the body, and Brazilian waxes are offered in both V and P styles.

The studio asks clients to arrive on time and to give as much notice as possible for changes. Payment is due at the time of service and can be made in cash, Venmo or Apple Cash. There are no walk-ins, no waiting area, and no guests. Hours are Wednesday 10 AM to 8 PM, Thursday and Friday 8:30 AM to 8 PM, and Saturday 8:30 AM to 4 PM, with Sunday through Tuesday closed. Black Thorn Wax also teaches practical education for estheticians and waxers and sells The Waxer's Field Guide.
