Billie Jean's Wig Salon

Billie Jean's Wig Salon was founded in 1961 by Billie Jean Echols, who began her career as a hairdresser. Her daughters Linda and Cookie completed beauty school and later joined the business, and the shop is still family owned and operated. Marisa McFadden is also part of the team. The salon has served the Houston area for more than 56 years.

The wig service began when the founder's mother was going through cancer treatment, and the shop still offers medical wigs and headwear for clients with hair loss from chemotherapy, radiation or alopecia. Free consultations and fittings take place in private styling rooms, and the staff can give a free evaluation of wigs a customer already owns. Turbans can be worn in several ways, and staff will give personal instruction on how to wear one.

The stock covers human hair, European hair, synthetic and heat defiant synthetic wigs, toppers and hair extensions, with more than 500 pieces on hand. Styles include hand tied lace front wigs, monofilament top and mono top wigs, Remy human hair wigs, and long hair wigs in both synthetic and human hair. Wigs are available for women, men and children, in petite, average and large sizes. Wigs or hairpieces that are not in stock can be ordered on request.

Visits are by appointment, offered Tuesday through Friday from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Appointments can be made by phone at 713-523-4727 or by email at billie@billiejeans.com. The salon also provides insurance-acceptable receipts and sells wig accessories, hair care products and a boutique line of gifts.
