The salon was opened in Brooklyn in 2015 by its owner, Nao. Nao began working in hair in Japan, spent about ten years in Osaka, moved to New York in 2007, and then worked in Manhattan for seven years before opening Berry.

The salon is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10am to 7pm. Appointments can be booked online, and returning clients have a separate booking link. A haircut includes a shampoo, blow dry and deep conditioning, and it covers short to medium-long hair down to mid-back; for longer hair, clients send a photo for a quote. Bang trims are $50 and do not include shampoo or conditioning. Color prices do not include a blow dry, which can be added for $40. Double color and special perms are priced after a consultation.

Booking policies are firm. Cancellations or changes within 24 hours of an appointment carry a 50% fee, or 48 hours for chemical services like color and perms, and no-shows are charged in full. Clients who arrive more than 10 minutes late may not get the full service, and those more than 15 minutes late may need to rebook. Children who are not having services are not allowed in the salon, and because space is limited, friends and children may not be accommodated, so it is worth asking the stylist first. Phone use is limited to necessary calls. Refunds are not issued for services or products, though one adjustment is offered within a week of a salon service and products can be exchanged within 10 days of purchase.
