Bellisimo opened its doors on December 17, 2022, in San Marcos. Its founders, Sara and Sohrab, moved to San Diego from Bellevue, Washington. Construction on the space began in 2021 and took about eight months. Clients travel in from Vista, Carlsbad, Escondido and Oceanside as well as San Marcos.

The salon specializes in blonde color and premium hair extensions. The salon's founder completed cosmetology school in Portland, Oregon, more than 12 years ago. The salon describes itself as the leading hair salon in San Marcos, a claim that comes from the salon itself.

Every visit starts with a one-on-one consultation about hair goals, lifestyle and style preferences. Color consultations look at hair history, texture, condition, past treatments and home care. Haircut consultations look at hair type, growth patterns, face shape and styling preferences. The team then builds a plan toward the look the client chooses, with each service tailored to hair type, texture and lifestyle.

The salon uses premium, salon-grade products and says its products are damage-free. For haircuts, it suggests a trim every six to eight weeks. Appointments can be booked online through Vagaro or by phone, and walk-ins are welcome. Hours are Monday to Friday 10 AM to 7 PM, Saturday 10 AM to 6 PM and Sunday 11 AM to 5 PM.

Each service begins with a consultation, and the team tailors the work to a client's hair type, texture and lifestyle.
