Beauty Choice Salon has served Houston since 2007. Its menu is built around three hair processes, and the salon names the Japanese Straight Perm as its specialty and premier service.
The Japanese Straight Perm, also called Japanese Hair Straightening, the Straight Perm or Thermal Reconditioning, is meant to leave hair smooth and sleek while easing frizz and curl. The salon uses Liscio products, made by Milbon in Japan, and says it is licensed by Milbon to buy and use them. It also says Liscio performs better than other straightening products and that it uses only genuine Liscio.
The Brazilian Blowout uses a liquid keratin formula that coats each strand, aiming to reduce frizz and add glossy shine. A session takes about one to one and a half hours depending on hair thickness and length, and results generally last three to four months. The salon says the treatment is generally suitable for any hair type, and clients should share past treatments and any damage so it can be adjusted.
The Digital Curl Perm is designed for clients who prefer curly or wavy hair, producing soft, natural-looking curls and shine. It is close in method to the straight perm but uses ceramic iron rollers, and the salon says the curls hold through many washes.
Pricing depends on hair length and type, so clients are asked to call for a consultation. Hair that has been colored, highlighted or bleached is not suitable for every treatment, and the consultation checks hair condition first. Clients with a history of chemical relaxers are assessed individually, since repeated relaxer use usually causes significant damage. After a Japanese Straight Perm, clients are asked not to wash their hair for three days and to avoid irons and styling for ten days, and the salon recommends a moisturizing conditioner such as Crede ER or Clay.
Payment is accepted in cash (US currency), Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover; checks and non-major credit cards are not taken. Gift certificates are available.
Treatments are matched to each client after a consultation that checks hair condition. The salon says the Japanese Straight Perm requires an experienced professional to get the best results.
