BASWA

BASWA was established in 2000 by sisters Brenda and Sallie Lawrence. The name is an acronym built from the words brothers, sisters, working and art, and the studio describes it as men and women working together to nurture and prepare hair for growth.

The stated mission is quality service in a calm setting that supports the mind, body and spirit of each client. The studio is open Sunday through Friday from 10am to 6pm and Saturdays from 9am to 6pm.

Clients who book should know the studio's booking rules. An appointment requires a deposit of 50% of the total service cost, which is applied to that cost. Appointments have a 10-minute grace period, after which they must be rescheduled. Cancellations or reschedules need at least 48 hours' notice, and late notice means the deposit is lost. To cancel or reschedule, clients leave a voice message at 860-987-9707 with their name, phone number and appointment date.

Products used in the salon come from the Influance Hair Care line, and the studio also sells a range of retail products, including the It's Natural line, scalp oils, shampoos, conditioners, sprays and a sea moss series. The studio does not guarantee results from any product other than the Influance Hair Care line used in the salon.

For a comfortable visit, the salon asks that clients not bring in at-home products, except prescribed products, which must show the client's name and the doctor's name on the prescription. Food is not allowed, guests or children who are not being serviced may not come along, loud or long phone calls are not permitted, and electronic devices must be used with a headset or earphones. If a stylist is shown as unavailable on a chosen date, that stylist cannot be booked, but the client may choose another stylist, who will then perform the service. Once a stylist confirms an appointment, the stylist cannot be changed.

The studio focuses on hair cultivation with a calm, supportive atmosphere aimed at the whole client, and it works with the Influance Hair Care line in the salon.
