Barnhart's Nail Studio

Barnhart's Nail Studio is a family business at 110 W Oak St, Suite B, in Denton. Owner Natalie Barnhart's family also runs Barnhart's Barbershop in the same space on the north side of the Denton Square. The studio has one nail desk and one pedicure chair.

The studio works only with gel products and regular polish and does not use acrylic. Gel products have no strong chemical odor compared with traditional acrylic. Polish comes from iGel Beauty, which the studio describes as Texas-based, and from GelBottle, Inc., which the studio says makes the most highly pigmented polishes and most densely packed glitter colors. A polish wall displays the colors, and clients can send a photo to have a specific gel shade matched.

Builder gel, also called BIAB or hard gel, is a thick, self-leveling gel applied to the nail and cured under an LED light. It can go over the natural nail as a base for gel polish, or over a nail tip to repair a broken nail as an extension. Full sets of extensions are not the usual service, though exceptions may be made for events such as weddings. Builder gel is guaranteed for one week, and breaks, lifting, or peeling are repaired at no charge, except damage caused by the client.

Booking policies ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule, and appointments are canceled if a client is more than 15 minutes late. Fills are recommended every three weeks, and appointments beyond four weeks are charged as a new full set. Services are not performed on nails with infection, fungus, disorder, or contagious disease, including ingrown toenails, per Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation rules. Hours are Monday 10:30 am to 5 pm, Tuesday 10:30 am to 2:30 pm, Wednesday and Thursday 10:30 am to 8 pm, and Friday 10:30 am to 5 pm. The studio is closed Saturday and Sunday.

Gel-only work built around natural nail health and sanitary practices. The owner considers builder gel the choice that keeps clients happy and healthy over the long term, and considers dip methods less sanitary.
