Bare Bliss is an electrolysis business in Tulsa, founded and run by Jessica Edmondson. The business traces electrolysis back to 1875, when an ophthalmologist began using galvanic electrolysis to remove ingrown eyelashes, and it notes that the Blend method was developed in 1945.
Electrolysis is offered on most body areas and can be done on any hair color, hair type or skin tone. Three methods are used: Multiple Needle Galvanic (MNG), thermolysis, and the Blend, which combines the two. MNG runs at a lower intensity and is the method preferred for sensitive areas such as the bikini line. Bikini line work is done, but full Brazilian treatments are not offered, and treatment is not performed inside the nostrils, deep in the ear canal or on the genital area.
Sessions run from 15 minutes to 120 minutes, depending on the area treated, with listed prices of $55, $75, $100, $120, $175 and $240 for those lengths. Prices can change at any time. Payment is due at the end of each session except the first appointment, and can be made by cash, check, or credit or debit card. Card payments carry a 3% convenience fee, and returned checks incur a $25 fee. Intake and consent forms can be downloaded as fillable PDFs and completed before the first visit.
Before a treatment, clients are asked to stop plucking and use shaving or a cream depilatory between sessions, to allow 36 to 48 hours of hair growth so hairs can be grabbed with tweezers, to avoid sun exposure for 48 hours, and to avoid retinoid products for at least a week. A standard pain reliever can be taken 30 minutes beforehand, or a topical anesthetic applied an hour before, to ease discomfort. Afterward, redness and mild swelling are expected and usually settle within an hour or two. Clients are advised not to touch the treated area for at least two weeks. The business lists possible side effects as redness, swelling, tiny bruises, pinpoint scabbing, rare pigment changes, and scarring if the area is picked. The business states that electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal method recognized by the American Medical Association. It also notes that the average full course takes about 18 months, not counting hormonal influences.
The business centers on client wellbeing and on walking clients through each step of the process. It says it uses equipment it describes as industry-approved and state-of-the-art.
The business describes its space as clean, attractive and private.
