AXtreme Hair Style opened in Miami in 2016 and was founded by a husband and wife team. One of the founders started cutting hair in Cuba at nineteen, after a friend asked whether they knew how to cut. They learned barbering in a barbershop under a mentor, then took formal hairstylist courses in color, blowdry, highlights and advanced styling.

The founder later spent eight years working in Spain, beginning at thirty, where a mentor taught them how to build rapport with clients and how to lead other stylists. They moved to the United States at thirty-eight and worked at a salon in Doral before opening their own business.

The women's side of the salon grew out of client requests. When female clients began asking for haircuts, the founder pursued formal training in women's hair services. The salon describes itself as more than a salon, with its own line of men's and women's hair care products, and says its aim is to make every guest feel at home.

Men's Studio covers haircuts, beard services and grooming, including precision cuts, skin fades and beard sculpting. Women's Hair covers cuts, full and partial color, highlights, balayage and blowdries. Bookings are made through Vagaro on the salon's booking page, and the salon is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 to 20:00.

The salon also sells its AXYAM Hair Care products, which it describes as professional grade and suitable for home use. Products are paid for through Square and shipped across the United States.

The salon's stated goal is to make each guest feel welcome, and its work is shaped by the founders' training in barbering, color and women's styling.
