Avivah Wax Spa is locally owned and operated in Clayton. The owner describes the business as minority-owned, Black-owned and woman-owned, and says it is not a chain. It opened to the public about three months after setup began, and in a 2021 interview the owner said the client base had passed 2,000 people.

The spa is appointment-only and has no front desk, so clients book through the online booking site. It is open Tuesday through Friday from 11am to 7pm, Saturday from 12pm to 5pm, and is closed Sunday and Monday. Before any treatment, clients read and sign a client health consent form, and the appointment cannot go ahead without it. Cancellations or reschedules are accepted up to 12 hours before the start time, and no-shows or late cancellations are charged the full cost. Clients running late are asked to text their name and estimated arrival time, and to cancel if they cannot arrive within 10 minutes of the start. Children and pets are not allowed, except service animals.

Waxing is offered to clients 18 and older. The spa uses both soft and hard wax, with a range of formulas for different skin and hair types. Hair should be at least a quarter inch long, so clients are asked not to trim or shave beforehand and to wait three to four weeks between waxes. The salon says its technique is meant to reduce discomfort and shorten appointments. Ingrown hair removal is included in any booked service, and clients are advised to avoid strenuous activity for 48 hours afterward. The spa recommends PFB, TendSkin and Finipil cream as aftercare. Men may book every service except Brazilian and buttocks waxes.

Brow and lash services include eyebrow tints, which last one to two weeks, and eyelash tints, which last one to three weeks. The keratin lash lift adds lift and curl to natural lashes and lasts six to eight weeks, and the lift-and-tint version adds color afterward, which suits blonde or light lashes. The spa also offers full body waxing, which is booked for two hours and 30 minutes.

The salon says its waxing method is designed to lessen discomfort and shorten the time in the chair, and it focuses on waxing with a small set of related brow and lash services.
