Clients visit the campus salon, where services are performed by students under the supervision of licensed instructors. Students practice on a clinic floor and in a student spa with real clients, and the school says more than a thousand services are booked each month with its students. Because students do the work, timing depends on student availability and the time each service takes. The campus is open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, and appointments are recommended. Guests are asked to arrive within a 15-minute grace period. Tips are not expected or accepted. Some hair prices may change with hair length or porosity, and extra products used during a service are charged separately. Guests may be offered Aveda Comforting Tea on arrival, along with optional add-ons such as aroma selection, hand treatments, makeup touch-ups, hot towel treatments and home care advice.

Appointments are open to women, men, and children old enough to sit unassisted. Guests under 12 need an adult who is not getting a service to supervise them, and any children waiting in the lobby must be with an adult. Prices and services may change.

The school describes its Masterpiece Program, a copyrighted part of its curriculum, as resting on five core elements: art, customer service, community connection, technique, and fashion sense. It also says it keeps a low student-to-instructor ratio and that its cosmetology curriculum was among the first in the country to bring in tablet-based learning. Students reach course materials through the Learn Aveda digital platform on an iPad.

Enrollment begins with a career planning session and can include an optional financial planning session and an optional student orientation. Required application documents include a high school diploma or equivalent, a driver's license or government ID, a social security card and a letter of intent. There is a $25 non-refundable application fee and a $150 enrollment fee due at enrollment. Financial aid is available to those who qualify through the FAFSA using school code 041476. Job placement help, including job postings, resume help, mock interviews and portfolio help, is offered to all graduates, and the school hosts career fairs where students and graduates can meet employers from spas, salons and wellness centers in the Las Vegas area. A Green Team runs fundraising and service projects.

The school aims for training that extends past the state licensure exam, with a focus on teamwork, business skills and an artistic approach. Its Aveda products are described by the school as plant-based, vegan and cruelty-free.
