The salon has operated as an Aveda destination since 1990 and is affiliated with Neill and Aveda. It is located in the West Village area of Uptown Dallas, near restaurants, shops and boutiques, with DART Rail, the McKinney Avenue Trolley and the Katy Trail nearby.

The salon describes its culture as family-first, with a focus on excellence, sustainability and personalized care. It presents itself as eco-friendly and eco-conscious and says it uses up to 96% naturally derived Aveda products. Its team is described as a supportive group that functions like family. Hair services cover cuts for men and women, including bobs, pixies, fringes, shags, layers and the swan cut, along with shampoo, blow dry and style. Every cut includes a complimentary finishing blowout. Color services include full and partial highlights, lowlights and balayage, root retouch, color balance, men's grey blending, and blonde, brunette, red and fashion shades. Each color service includes a complimentary finish by an intern, and a seasoned colorist can be requested for an additional fee. Color, cut and extension consultations are complimentary, and haircolor pricing is quoted during an in-salon consultation.

Hair extensions include VoMor hand-tied and tape-in options, which the salon says are made from Remy human hair and are reusable. A Brazilian Blowout, a liquid keratin treatment the salon says reduces frizz, starts at $250, with pricing varying by hair length. Aveda Pro Treatments include Bond-Building and Strengthening, Intensive Hydrating, Scalp Nourishing and Aveda Shine treatments, and a Hair Shine or Botanical Treatment can be added to a service or booked alone.

The spa side includes HydraFacial treatments, the Avalon Signature Facial (a customized facial with cleansing, exfoliation, tone, masque and facial massage), Perfect Plant Peel, Nano-Needling and a HydraFacial Keravive Scalp Treatment sold as a series of three with a take-home kit. Deluxe and Platinum HydraFacials include a personalized booster serum and LED light therapy. Massage options include relaxing, therapeutic, hot stone and Stress-Fix massage, along with reflexology and allergy relief add-ons, with Aveda essences and blends used in several of them. Bridal and special occasion makeup and styling are available on location, with requests sent to brides@avalon-salon.com or by phone.

Booking is by phone at 214.969.1901, where clients can call or text to schedule or ask questions. A valid credit card is kept on file to reserve an appointment but is not charged at booking. Cancellations or changes need at least 24 hours' notice, and later cancellations are charged 50% of the service total. No-shows are charged the full scheduled total. Credit card payments carry a 3% processing fee, which is avoided by paying with a debit card at checkout. Salon hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, Saturday 8am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 6pm.
