Assort New York is one of nine salons run under the Assort International Hair Salon name, across eight cities in seven countries. The New York location is on Jones Street in the West Village, about a 3 to 4 minute walk from the West 4th St-Washington Sq subway station and about 4 minutes from Christopher St-Stonewall.

According to the salon, its style blends the precision of Japanese hairdressing and a hospitable service approach with the creative freedom of Western salons. Stylists speak both Japanese and English, and consultations can be held in either language.

The menu covers single, double and triple process color, half and full head highlights, balayage and ombre, keratin and Japanese straightening, cold wave and digital perms, and cuts priced by stylist level. A consultation is listed from $50, and long or thick hair add-ons are priced by how far the hair falls below the shoulders.

Booking is done online through Fresha, and the salon does not take bookings by phone. A valid card is required at booking, but no deposit is charged upfront. Please request cancellations or reschedules at least 24 hours ahead. Changes made within 24 hours of an appointment, and no-shows, are charged the full booked service price. For late arrivals, the chair is held for 10 minutes for 30-minute services, 15 minutes for standard services, and 30 minutes for services of three hours or more. Payment is cashless, with credit and debit cards accepted.
