About

The school trains students for careers in cosmetology, manicuring, esthetics and teaching cosmetology. Its stated aim is to graduate students with the skills needed to find work in the field. The school says it regularly surveys the profession so that its curriculum keeps up with current trends and the techniques employers use.

The cosmetology course is 1,600 clock hours and includes at least 335 hours of technical instruction. It covers hair cutting and styling, permanent waving, hair coloring and bleaching, facials, eyebrow work, make-up, manicuring and artificial nails. Graduates who pass the Bureau of Barbering and Cosmetology exam with a 75% overall average can receive a California cosmetology license.

The manicuring course is 400 hours and covers water and oil manicures, pedicures, and applying artificial nails and wraps. A manicuring license is granted by the State of California after graduation and passing the State Board exam with a 75% overall average.

The esthetician course is 600 clock hours and covers manual, electrical and chemical facials, eyebrow beautification and make-up. The instructor course is 600 hours, called the Teacher Training course, and includes at least 390 hours of technical instruction and supervised teaching practice. Applicants to the instructor license need a 12th grade or equivalent education, a valid California cosmetology license, an employer affidavit of experience and a passing exam result.

Students who graduate with a GPA of C (70%) or better receive a diploma, and staff help with the paperwork for state exams. Federal financial aid is available, and staff guide students through the FAFSA process. Job placement help, including interview and resume training, is offered at no extra charge, though the school does not guarantee employment. Enrollment requires completing 10th grade or equivalent and passing the CPAT admission test. Students may cancel in writing through midnight of the fifth business day after the first class for a full refund.

Training is aimed at getting graduates into paid work, with curriculum that the school reviews against profession trends and employer techniques.
