About

Ashley Lonergan, MD is a facial plastic surgery and hair restoration practice with offices in Chestnut Hill and Wellesley, Massachusetts. Surgical work is performed at the Boston Center for Plastic Surgery, and the practice is affiliated with Northeast Hair Restoration. The practice describes itself as offering one surgeon for facial surgery, hair restoration and related treatments, and states it has 35 years of experience. Every visit begins with a one-on-one consultation, and no procedure has to be chosen at that meeting. Before recommending anything, the surgeon reviews medical and surgical history, current medications and goals, and each plan is shaped around the patient's facial anatomy, lifestyle and preferences. The practice says it gives an objective opinion, including advice to do less or to choose a different option when that is the better fit, and its stated guiding idea is that the best result is one nobody notices.

Many patients travel to the practice from across New England and beyond, often for procedures not available closer to home. Out-of-town patients can arrange virtual consultations before travel, condensed in-person visits, and virtual follow-up after returning home, with a timeline built around their travel schedule. The surgeon can also coordinate testing with a patient's local care team.

Before surgery, patients typically pause aspirin, blood thinners, NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, and supplements including vitamin E, fish oil, ginkgo and St. John's Wort, unless the surgeon advises otherwise. After surgery, a driver is needed to take the patient home, and someone should stay for at least the first night. Patients are asked to call the office right away for a fever above 101 degrees Fahrenheit, worsening pain, unusual drainage from an incision, spreading warmth or redness, or sudden swelling or bleeding.

Plans are customized to each patient's anatomy, goals and lifestyle, and the surgeon will recommend a less invasive option or a different treatment when that better meets the patient's aims.
