Asal Studios was founded by Asal, who previously owned and led a salon in Dubai, UAE, before opening the studio in the Washington, D.C. area.

The studio concentrates on bridal work, providing hair and makeup for weddings of many kinds, from traditional and contemporary to multicultural events, and it has particular experience with South Asian ceremonies, including Indian, Pakistani, Afghan and Persian celebrations. Appointments take place at the Gaithersburg studio or on location in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia, with visits to places such as Bethesda, Rockville, Potomac, Silver Spring, Arlington, Alexandria and McLean. Destination weddings and selected events are also booked across the United States and abroad. On-location work may carry a travel fee, which depends on distance.

Beyond appointments, the studio teaches one-on-one and small group makeup classes in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Essential Makeup Mastery is $250 for an individual and Glam Up Advanced Techniques is $350, each running two hours; group rates for two people are $400 and $600, with $200 and $300 for each additional person. Full payment is due when booking, by Zelle or Venmo, and every student takes home a set of brushes.

Hair and makeup trials are usually scheduled one to three months before the wedding day at the studio. Couples are advised to reserve a date six to twelve months ahead, especially for May through October, and a signed contract and retainer are required to hold it. Hours are by appointment, Monday through Sunday.

The team says it works with all skin tones, hair types and cultural styles, and each look is tailored to the client.
