Arizona Lash Academy teaches lash extension technique from its Tucson studio on East Broadway. Calypso Upham founded the academy and leads the teaching, and she also runs Muse Salon De Beaute.
The academy says its aim is to build students' confidence as well as their skills, so the courses combine hands-on practice with instruction in technique.
The beginner group course runs four days of about 7.5 hours each and covers classic and volume lash extensions. Two live models are included for classic and volume work, lunch is provided every day, and students receive a headshot for social media and the class yearbook. Classes run monthly with morning and evening options, and evening classes are posted quarterly. A student who misses a day makes it up in the next group, and a certificate of completion is issued only after all four days are finished.
The advanced course is a 30-hour program for artists who have already completed a lash training program and want the Arizona State Eyelash Technician License. Dates can be arranged to fit, and the license application is completed on site. Since May 2024, Arizona has required lash artists to be registered and to have completed a board-approved training program, and the state license cannot be applied for until tuition is fully paid.
Beyond the core courses, the academy offers a one-on-one beginner course with individualized, custom dates, a one-on-one workshop for certified lash artists covering wispy, angel and anime sets, the Muse Mode Signature Set Experience, the Muse Educator Experience, and The Muse Mentorship. It also runs a student model program for people who want to be contacted monthly about modeling.
Training is designed to build students' confidence as well as their technical skill.
The site describes the training space as private.
