Anomaly Studio opened in 2022 under the name tHairapy, a name meant to link mental health awareness with barbering and hair services. In its third year it took the name Anomaly Studio and placed a stronger focus on being inclusive and welcoming to everyone.

The studio says it wants every client to feel welcome and free to be themselves. It also states that clients should leave looking and feeling better than when they arrived, and that looking good helps people feel good. The owner, Caryn, aims to build lasting relationships with each client.

Clients book through the studio's GlossGenius page, where new-client prices are shown. Haircut prices listed are for returning clients within a six-month period. The studio serves one client at a time and cleans the space after every visit, hand sanitiser is available, and clients receive a text with a code to enter the building on the day of their appointment.

Color appointments are booked as sessions from two to seven hours, depending on the service, hair texture and length, and every color service includes a blow-dry style. Services using bleach or vivid or fashion shades carry a flat product charge of $25 to $45. The studio carries R+Co and Bleu, which are color-safe and heat and UV protective, and Cult & King, a mostly vegan botanical line with refillable options. It also offers gender-neutral scented products.

Cancellations or reschedules need 24 hours' notice. A no-show or late cancellation may incur a rebooking fee of 50% of the missed appointment, and clients more than 10 minutes late may lose part or all of the appointment. Clients running late are asked to call or text, and the studio will call anyone five minutes late. Sickness-related cancellations are not charged a rescheduling fee. Clients who are not fully satisfied can request a review within seven days of their service.
