Amy Rosofsky Electrolysis

Amy Rosofsky Electrolysis is an electrolysis practice at 30 North Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago, focused on permanent hair removal. The practice describes itself as compassionate, meticulous and effective, and the work takes place in a private, professional setting.

Electrolysis treats hair one follicle at a time. A very fine needle is inserted alongside the hair shaft and a small electrical current is applied to destroy the cells that grow the hair. No lasers or waxing are used. Three methods are available: galvanic, thermolysis, and a blend of the two. The sensation is a brief warmth that some clients compare to a pin-prick, and temporary redness, bumpiness or tenderness can follow, varying from person to person.

Each client begins with a free initial consultation, where the number of treatments is set. Most people notice results after several sessions, and full results can take an average of 8 to 18 months. Sessions are booked in 15-minute blocks, from 15 minutes up to an hour.

The practice works with women and men aged 16 to 85. Commonly treated areas for women include the lip, chin, neck, underarms, legs, bikini line and eyebrows. For men, common areas include the ears, eyebrows, cheeks, neck, and back and shoulders.

Each treatment is planned around the individual client, with a respectful and discreet approach to a sensitive kind of work.
