Âme opened in spring 2022 and takes its name from the French word for soul. The salon describes itself as sustainable, organic and a salon, and it aims for a clean, calm, spa-like setting.

The salon uses only organic, nontoxic hair care products and values clean beauty and environmental sustainability. It takes part in its community's sustainability plans and welcomes clients regardless of hair texture, growth pattern, age or gender identity.

Every service is booked a la carte, and a credit card on file is required to secure appointments. Each stylist sets their own prices, so rates can differ from one stylist to another. Color prices depend on the look wanted, hair length and density, and are confirmed at a consultation before any service begins. Anyone unsure which service they need can book a free 15-minute consultation. The add-on deep conditioning treatment is only available during another service. The salon is open Monday from 9am to 5pm and Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to 6pm.

Beyond color and cuts, the salon offers scalp detox sessions with a range of add-ons, Great Lengths extensions, and Alma TED. The salon says it was voted Most Loved Salon in Santa Monica in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
