Ame was founded by Lori Pastore, who started the concept in 1985 as a wellness spa with Eastern modalities alongside a trend-setting salon. Lori first opened a King of Prussia location before the business moved to its current home in downtown Wayne in 2000.

The business pairs hair fashion with mind-body wellness therapies, so a visit can cover a cut or color appointment, a facial or massage, or both. Facials and massages can be pre-purchased in series of 3 or 5 at a discounted rate, and gift cards are sold in the salon and online. Appointments can be booked online. Guests are asked to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early for a salon appointment and 15 to 30 minutes early for a spa appointment.

Facials range from the Ame Touch facial, a 50-minute treatment, to the 75-minute Restore Dual Peel, which uses a peel chosen by the esthetician followed by a peel-off molding mask. Hydrafacial, microchanneling, dermaplaning and ProCell microchanneling are also offered, and dermaplaning can be added to any facial. Massage options include the AME Relax massage, deep tissue, healing stone, Himalayan salt stone, cupping and a maternity massage, with a range of enhancements such as hot stone and dry brushing.

Bridal services are handled by Ame Bride, an extension of the salon that offers bridal hair styling and makeup in the bridal suite or on location. Packages are sized for different party sizes, and a bridal suite can be rented for a block of hours. Travel fees for off-site services are based on mileage from the salon, and the amount is listed as to be determined.
