About

Altruistic Academy was founded in 2021 by Christina Sisler, a registered nurse and educator. The school describes itself as Clearwater's premier esthetics school and states that its mission is accessible, flexible, career-focused education in beauty, aesthetics and wellness. It is licensed as a Florida career school through the Florida Commission for Independent Education (school #11427). It is not currently institutionally accredited and does not currently take part in federal Title IV student aid. Students come from St. Petersburg, Largo, Pinellas Park and the wider Tampa Bay area. Programs use a hybrid model. Theory is completed online from home, and hands-on clinical training happens on campus. Training includes instructor demonstrations, supervised practice, and practice on models before students work with clients. Classes are kept small. Admissions requires a tour of the academy, a high school diploma or GED or equivalent transcript, valid government ID, a registration payment and a signed enrollment agreement.

The Facial Specialist Program is 300 hours, made up of 140 hours of online theory and 160 hours of in-person clinical training, and can be finished in a flexible 12 to 20 week period. It covers skin analysis, cleansing, exfoliation, massage, masking, dermaplaning, chemical exfoliation, nano-infusion and microcurrent. The total cost is $7,800. The electrolysis and laser hair reduction program is 320 hours (120 online and 200 on campus) on a 15-week or 30-week pathway with one to three clinical days a week, and totals $8,175. Completing it does not on its own authorize independent practice, since Florida electrologist licensure and other requirements still apply.

The phlebotomy training for estheticians is a hybrid course with online coursework and three in-person clinical Mondays from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. It includes live venipuncture practice on human volunteers, 30 venipunctures and 10 capillary collections, and an AHA BLS certification. Applicants must be 18 or older, need no prior experience, and provide a high school transcript or equivalent. Tuition is $1,895, and graduates who pass the required exams can apply for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician credential from the National Healthcareer Association. The school states the training can help estheticians work alongside plastic surgeons, dermatology practices and medical spas. Refunds are not offered, though students may reschedule a future workshop with at least 7 days notice.

The student spa offers supervised facials, laser hair reduction and electrolysis performed by students as part of their hands-on education. Appointments start with a consultation, and the method, timing and area are set after educator review. These visits can take longer than a traditional spa appointment. Home care products come from Marini Skin Solutions, and a shop sells skincare. Payment can be made in full, through monthly Affirm payments, or through academy payment plans. Funding options mentioned include CareerSource, Florida Vocational Rehabilitation, Bright Futures, Florida Prepaid and VA education benefits, subject to eligibility. Pricing should be confirmed with admissions before enrolling.

Students learn through a blend of online theory and on-campus practice, with instructor demonstrations, supervised work and practice on models before clients.

Hands-on sessions are held in small classes.
