Alta Electrology is a private practice in Timonium that concentrates on permanent hair removal through electrolysis. The studio is on the second floor of the Pot Spring Professional Center, and free parking is available on site. Clients enter through the south-side door marked Upper, facing E. Ridgely Road.
The practice describes its philosophy as compassionate, accepting and professional, with a quiet, private studio and one-on-one care. Electrolysis treats each hair on its own: a fine, sterile probe is placed into the follicle opening and controlled energy reaches the base of the follicle, with the technique chosen for each client. The practice notes that full clearance usually takes several treatments, often weekly or every two weeks over a few months.
Every new client begins with a consultation and trial session to determine fit. The 15-minute session, priced at $80 and intended for all new clients, covers intake, a personalized treatment plan and a five-minute trial. Ongoing visits can be booked as 30-minute sessions for smaller areas or maintenance, or 60-minute sessions for focused work on a single area.
According to the practice, electrolysis is the only method of permanent hair removal approved by the FDA, and it can be used on every hair color, skin tone and body area, which sets it apart from laser hair removal. The studio says its space is built to meet top clinical standards. The technique began in 1875, when Dr. Charles Michel, an eye doctor from St. Louis, applied a thin probe carrying a weak electrical charge to correct ingrown hairs.
Tuesday through Friday hours run 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturdays are available by request, and Mondays alternate between closed and 1:00 to 8:00 PM. A 48-hour notice is required for rescheduling or cancellation, and credit card transactions carry a 3% processing fee.
Treatments are chosen for each client, and a consultation and trial session comes first to determine whether electrolysis is a good fit.
