Alchemy Hair Studio describes itself as a boutique salon focused on clean, craft hairdressing, offered in a casual neighborhood setting. Consultations are free and recommended before big changes or when someone is undecided on a style or color. Haircut prices are set by length, density and complexity of the style rather than by gender, so pricing is gender neutral. Prices for color depend on the amount of color used, and service prices vary by stylist, so the salon points clients to each stylist's own page for pricing. Families are welcome, and children's services are priced the same as adult services. Children are asked to stay calm and occupied during appointments and to stay home when sick. No last-minute cancellation fee is charged when a client or child is sick and cannot keep an appointment.

Haircuts range from a classic barber cut with blending at the top, about 30 minutes, to a short cut with modern texturizing and customized shape, about 45 minutes. A signature cut runs from bobs to long layers in about 45 to 60 minutes. A transformational cut is for a dramatic change in length or shape and takes about 60 to 75 minutes. A curly cut is for clients who wear their natural texture and takes about 90 minutes. Razor cutting is offered for curly hair and all hair textures, to shape texture, volume and weight. Just a Trim removes only the perimeter ends in about 15 minutes for clients growing their hair out, and is for existing clients between regular cuts; it does not include shampoo, blow dry, shaping or layering.

Color ranges from classic salon color to customized work. Gray Blending is for clients who want gray softened without full root coverage, with color matched to their gray pattern and existing color. Modern Blonding is a lived-in blonde with a soft grow-out, including balayage, teasy lights, tip outs and root melts. Transformational haircolor covers bolder blonde, blonde to red or brunette, and vivid colors, and is priced per session after consultation. Single Process and Root Retouch give full gray coverage, with an optional gloss to refresh the ends. Classic Foil Highlights and Bleach and Tone support blonde and platinum hair, and a standalone gloss refreshes tone and shine between appointments. For gray coverage, smoothing should be booked at least two days after the color appointment.

The smoothing treatments are Cezanne, which reduces frizz, relaxes curl pattern and adds shine, and QiQi, a customizable frizz treatment that can keep natural curl, reduce curl pattern while keeping volume, or mostly straighten. The salon describes both as non-toxic. Smoothing can be done the same day as highlights or booked at least two days before them. Smoothing can significantly fade artificial color, and clients should wait 24 to 48 hours after a QiQi or Cezanne treatment before washing. After any color service, clients are advised to wait at least 48 hours before washing or swimming. Clients are asked to arrive for color appointments with hair unwashed for no more than two days. Clients who are excessively or repeatedly late may have their service declined or modified.

Hair model appointments are offered, and every service is supervised by a mentor stylist. The salon carries Kevin Murphy and Virtue hair care products, which it describes as cruelty free, and says it carries products free of harmful ingredients. Clients can restock products through online affiliate links.
