Alara Electrology

Alara Electrology is a studio in San Diego devoted to electrolysis, a method of permanent hair removal. Kristi owns the studio and works there as its electrologist. The studio describes electrolysis as the only method it considers FDA-recognized for permanent hair removal, and it calls itself a leading electrolysis center.

New clients begin with a 30-minute consultation for $49, paid in full when booking. After the consultation, a non-refundable 20% deposit secures the treatment appointment, and deposits can be paid by Square, Venmo or cash. Face and body electrolysis starts at $55 for a 5-minute session and is priced by treated area and duration, with a 60-minute session listed at $175. Bikini electrolysis is listed at $150 for 30 minutes, $175 for 45 minutes, $200 for 60 minutes and $340 for 90 minutes. Cash discounts apply to certain sessions, and one-hour sessions cannot be split into smaller visits.

Before a visit, clients are asked to arrive with a clean treatment area, without makeup for facial treatments and without deodorant for underarm treatments. The studio recommends a 5% Lidocaine numbing cream applied 30 minutes before treatment. An optional HF / Cataphoresis add-on is available with any electrolysis session for $15; the studio describes it as a post-treatment step that soothes skin, closes pores, reduces redness and supports faster healing.

The studio's stated philosophy is that every body deserves to feel authentic and confident in its own skin. Hours are Monday 11am to 7pm, Wednesday 11am to 8pm and Thursday 11am to 6:30pm. Cancellations or reschedules need at least 48 hours notice, and changes made with less notice, or a no-show, are charged the full scheduled fee. Arriving late shortens the treatment time while the full booked duration is charged, and arriving 10 or more minutes late cancels the appointment with the full session charge.

Sessions are meant to feel calm and informed, with a focus on educating clients about the electrolysis process and on pre- and post-treatment care.
