About

Airship Electrolysis started in response to a need in the local trans community and welcomes patients of every gender and identity from San Francisco, the Oakland East Bay and beyond. The practice describes itself as the largest trans-specialized practice in Northern California and as the first gender-affirming electrolysis practice in Berkeley.

The practice aims to offer high-quality, insurance-accessible, gender-affirming electrolysis while building steady, well-paid careers in trans healthcare. It also hopes to help queer and trans people take an active role in their own care and raise standards within their communities.

The practice specializes in pre-surgical electrolysis for patients whose planned operations include vaginoplasty, phalloplasty, or related procedures. Because the treated area needs to be hair-free before surgery, people with a set operation date are given priority. Facial and body hair removal are also available. The clinic's main focus is serving people who are living with gender dysphoria and want relief, as well as those getting ready for gender-affirming operations.

New patients start with an intake form, after which the team reaches out to schedule. The first session opens with a 15-minute consult with the patient's electrologist to talk through goals and answer questions. Returning patients can book themselves through Vagaro, and anyone seeking electrolysis can book at the self-pay rate.

The Berkeley clinic is on Regent Street off Ashby Avenue, about 15 minutes' walk from Ashby BART, with a paid lot and nearby street parking. Its waiting room is on the third floor and reached by elevator. The San Francisco clinic is in the Mission neighborhood, about eight minutes' walk from 24th Street BART. Both clinics are in secure medical buildings with modern equipment and private treatment rooms.

Providers have training in several electrolysis techniques and serve clients of every skin tone and hair texture.

Private treatment rooms sit inside secure medical buildings equipped with modern tools.
