About

Accent Beauty Academy, LLC is a permanent makeup training school in Denver, Colorado, led by founder and chief instructor Alesya Mulholland. The school describes its course as Colorado's top five-star reviewed permanent makeup class, and says it has over 90 five star student reviews and over 500 five star client reviews.

The course meets two days a week over seven weeks, roughly 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Its hours are divided among sanitation, sterilization and safety (12), skin analysis (8), equipment and supplies (8), color theory and effects (32), client consultation (8), and application of pigment (64). Students learn microblading and hair strokes, ombre and powdered eyebrows, lash line enhancement eyeliner, and full lip color and lip blush.

Students need five to seven live models. Each model carries a $20 fee covering blades, needle cartridges, protective equipment and aftercare products, which the student or the model may pay. Before class, students complete an approved online Bloodborne Pathogens course (about $25, roughly two hours) and provide proof of Hepatitis B vaccination or sign a waiver; the school recommends the three-shot series for anyone not vaccinated.

Tuition is $5,000. A $1,000 deposit holds a place in a class and is applied to tuition. The course fee includes the 400+ page student textbook from the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals and a kit with microblading tools, blades, eyebrow pigments, a permanent makeup machine, power supply, foot pedal, needle cartridges, topical numbing creams and latex practice pads. The school provides all personal protection equipment for the procedures taught. Bonuses include pre-study videos, online latex practice videos and online removal training videos, plus theory-only manual permanent makeup lightening removal training for students who finish the course, normally sold separately for $1,000.

Graduates may legally perform permanent makeup in Colorado and should be able to get insurance, but doing so also requires an active Colorado esthetician or cosmetology license. The school operates under the oversight and approval of the Colorado Department of Higher Education's Division of Private Occupational School Board. Payment plans for school debts can be arranged through enrollment. For enrollment questions, contact Mike Mulholland by phone or email; the office is open 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Students whose balance is more than 60 days overdue may have their transcript, diploma or certificate held, and the balance may be sent to collections. Records are still released for employment, transfers, financial aid, military service and other postsecondary needs. Students with an outstanding balance cannot register for new courses.

Colorado sets broad subject areas and required hours for the 132 hour course, and the school designs the rest of the program itself.
